Created a smooth, sharp edge on my knife. My knife has not been sharpened in 10 years. This stone made my knife as if it were new. I have never sharpened a knife before, so I would recommend this stone to beginners. But make sure you use this stone after using a coarser stone.
Also, I love that HITOHIRA saves newspaper to use as shipping packaging. Not only does this create less waste, it was really cool, as an American, to see the Japanese newspaper!
