Thinking of buying a Japanese kitchen knife while in Tokyo? Just a short walk from Sangenjaya Station – and only about 10 minutes from Shibuya by train or taxi – Hitohira is a specialty knife shop in Setagaya where chefs and home cooks from around the globe come to choose their new “cooking partner”. We have over 300 knives on display, a variety of stones, sharpening tools, pocket knives and more.
Access
Address: 2-16-16, Sangenjaya, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo
- (Walk) 5 minutes walking from Sangenjaya Station, which you can access with the Setagaya Line or the Denentoshi Line.
- (Train) The Denentoshi Line, the outbound line, has two local stops from Shibuya.
- (Bus) Take Tokyu Bus 渋23/ 渋11/ 渋24/ 渋82/ 渋22/ 渋05 at the West Exit bus terminal, and get off at Sangen-jaya.
- (Taxi) You can get off at Sangen-jaya station and walk for 5 minutes from there.
- (Car) 5 minutes from Tokyo-gaikan Expressway Sangenjaya Exit.
- (Shinjuku Station) About 20 minutes from Shinjuku station by train.

We do sharpening service starting from 800 JPY, please visit here for more details about sharpening and repair service.
Budgets
We have a general-purpose knife starting around 10000 JPY on display, but please visit the store and hold the knife as long as you want. If you buy one knife, you can use it for at least 10-20 years. You don't want to judge without holding it.
